- About Us | Nirvanas Arts Collec
We are a Sheffield-based creative non-profit. We are here to serve disabled and neurodivergent artists from across the UK. Find out more about us. Get to know us At Nirvanas Arts Collective, our story begins with a commitment to address the accessibility and inequality faced by disabled and neurodivergent artists and crafters. As a disability-led organisation, we understand the unique challenges faced by those who have experience of chronic illness and disability giving us a unique perspective to bridge the gap of inequality in the industry. Inspired by the founder's personal journey as an artist through years of ill health, we recognise the significant gaps in opportunities and provisions for disabled and neurodivergent artist that have higher or more complex support needs. We provide support for artists to sell and exhibit their artwork through creating accessible opportunity, providing tailored support, and assist in the development of their creative skills. Additionally, we provide arts-based therapeutic workshops and programmes for the wider community that are focused on skill development and the enhancement of individual and community wellbeing. We are currently a small team of artists and creative practitioners operating primarily in Sheffield and the surrounding South Yorkshire area, although our reach expands UK wide. As a non-profit, all our funds go back into the organisation to provide vital services for those that need them, such as providing further opportunities for our artists, produce community workshops and sessions, invest in adaptive art equipment and subsidise sessions for those in financial need. - Artist: Morgan Millward | Nirvanas Arts Collec
Morgan Millward Morgan is a multi-media artist using his art to frequently responds to current political conversations, whilst drawing on lived experience of mental health to inspire creative meaning. His artistic process is intuition-led and instinctual which makes his work visually raw and emotive. learn more Morgan is a multidisciplinary artist based in Greater Manchester. He works with whatever materials are available, often incorporating objects that have been discarded or overlooked. His practice is built on the belief that there is opportunity in everything, and that things people throw away can still hold meaning. His work frequently responds to current political conversations while also exploring personal experiences with mental health. Much of Morgan’s work reflects his experience of living with bipolar disorder and being a trans man. His process usually begins with a loose thought or emotion before becoming instinctive. Once he starts, his hands tend to take over and the work finds its own direction. His poetry often comes from anger or frustration about the news and public conversation, turning those feelings into words. Some of his most important pieces were created while he was detained in psychiatric hospital, where making art became a way to process and express what he was experiencing. Morgan draws inspiration mainly from the world around him rather than specific artists, though he particularly admires the work of Tracey Emin, Elizabeth Price and Jean-Michel Basquiat. In the future he hopes to explore more installation and video art alongside his existing practice. Interested in purchasing Morgan's artwork? Contact us

- Artist: Sasha Donovan-Anns | Nirvanas Arts Collec
Sasha Donovan-Anns Sasha is a writer across fiction and non-fiction with a background in dance with 15 years of formal Russian ballet training. She does not limit her creativity, working across different media in her personal practice and community workshop settings. Learn more Sasha is a multi-talent artist working across different art media, bringing a unique perspective to creativity and the meaning of art. She uses photography, textiles, and sculpture with found objects (both natural and man-made) to create with, whilst also being a dancer and writer. With 15 years of formal Russian Ballet tuition, her background in dance frames her relationship art and orientation towards embodiment as much as her experience of chronic illness does. Dance notation is an interest of Sasha's for its role as an interfacing surface of dance, text, and visual art. She has published a paper on ballet notation with the Dance Art Journal proposing that dance notation of the 18th century not only visually represents dance steps but also index ideologies of feeling. Sasha uses dance notation as a framework of pattern that visually represents shared feeling and embodiment which is used to underpin her creativity. With embodiment as a core theme in her artwork, Sasha incorporates interactivity into her visual art work, describing how she views the completion of artwork occuring through the act of sharing it. She believes art is not limited by its materiality but is expanded when the viewer observes art through their own experiences, memory and perception, creating a unique relationship between the art and the viewer. In 2024, Sasha designed a life-size sculpture of her double bed for the Norwich Unconsumed exhibition. The double bed was crafted from glossy photos woven together, the photos were macro images of food, playing with comfort, discomfort, and use. She wants to continue to exhibit her work and create new larger-scale work through installation pieces alongside exploring her interest in the production and curation of art exhibitions. Sasha is now predominantly a writer, writing across non-fiction and fiction; she currently holds a position as poetry editor with Scribbled. She has also experience working as an arts facilitator, facilitating creative writing workshops for a variety of clients including students with English as an additional language, performance artists, and academics. We have a fee cost sheet for items in this service: please note the way the printing service is funded may change based on feedback from members. Private commissions/sales – Commissions and sales that have been obtained through the support of The Collective are liable for 15% of the agreed upon commission cost. For transparency, this covers our admin time, marketing and support we offer to ensure you can fulfil your commission and/or sales; this is how we can continue to offer our free support. However, in special cases, please be advised that certain commissions that require more of our support or add extra costs for the organisation which may require a separate agreement to ensure your support needs and our duties can be fulfilled. This will be discussed in advance of carrying out the work to ensure both parties are aware of their responsibilities. This clause does not apply to items sold directly through our shop that we sell, pack and ship ourselves. Additional costs The collective aims to provide opportunities that align with the wants and needs of our artists. This means there are scenarios outside of these terms and conditions that we are unable to foresee and accurately provide a cost for, due to the individualised nature of the collaborative work. This could be: You need our additional support to create a personal exhibition for you Supporting lengthy applications of funding Providing a delivery and installation service of your artwork and/or products Collaborating on creating creative workshops Costs may come in the form of commission or a flat-rate hourly fee. We will always aim to discuss with you and talk about payment expectations alongside outlining how we can support you. Transparency is extremely important to us, and we want to provide financially accessible support and opportunities for our members. Please discuss with us any concerns you may have regarding this. Payment Pay periods are from the 21st of the previous month to the 20th of the next. Any profit, once commission and deductions are made, will be sent to your provided bank account. You will be sent a breakdown of sales (with commission and deductions) by the end of each month. We aim to ensure that monies are paid by the end of the last day of the month, however, please be aware there may be delays in monies entering your own bank account which is out of our control. If payment is delayed for any reason, we will give you as much notice as possible. Insurance We are insured for the activities we carry out. The tools, equipment, artwork and products we store are also covered under our insurance. Unfortunately, we are unable to take the liability for goods damaged in transit to us or outside venues/organisations. In the event an item we ship to a customer is damaged we will work with the shipping company and the customer to resolve. Any artwork or products we send to customers are covered with the necessary postage to cover loss or damage to the market value. Our team has the necessary training to carry out their roles; our safeguarding policies are up-to-date and can be provided upon request. This is also required by our insurers. Termination You may leave the Collective at any time. We will take your profile off our website, your products/artwork will be removed from the website and any trade spaces. The exception to this is if we have already printed any art prints or other recreations through our printing services. We will sell remaining stock until it has all gone, no new prints will be made, this is to ensure we recoup any associated costs with printing and packaging. Any commission made will still be paid to your nominated bank account, unless requested otherwise. We will cease to use your images in any marketing we have in the future. Unfortunately, we are unable to remove any past posts or marketing material that includes your images. Any items we hold of yours are shipped back at a postage cost to yourself; however, we will ensure we pack your products with the most suitable packaging. We will not ask you to leave the Collective unless there is a breach of the terms and conditions or a conflict of interest. Although there may be exceptional circumstances that may mean the organisation is no longer the right place for an artist. AI art We explicitly do not allow AI art. It is our stance that AI harms disabled, and neurodivergent artists more than it supports them. AI uses the data and hard work of artists to generate images that we feel requires little to no creative skill to achieve. The beauty of creativity is that it takes dedication and commitment to learning a craft to create authentically. AI does have a place in our changing world, but we do not feel the arts sector is that place due to the currently limited safeguards in place for our artists. If you do use AI generators in any way in your creative process, we expect artists to be upfront about this, and there may be an allowance if it has minimal use in the creative process. If artists breach this term, unfortunately we feel AI has no place in the Collective and therefore we will terminate your membership. Advertising and Intellectual Property We hold the right to use your images when we see fit to ensure we are reaching a wider audience, advertising your work and the collective. We state this in our terms and conditions, so we do not need to ask for consent every time we use your images. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the internet, we cannot be responsible for how the images are shared and used once they are in the public domain. However, we will support you in the event your intellectual property is being misused by outside parties. We do not expect our members to advertise on our behalf, our priority is advertising the artists, crafters and creative practitioners we have. Whilst it is not a requirement, sharing our posts allows us to reach a wider audience and for your skills to be showcased. We will ask for your consent if you will allow us to create recreations of your art to be sold. This could be, but is not limited to, printing art prints, zines, bookmarks, magazines that hold your own images. If you do not consent, this does not limit your ability to be involved in the Collective. If you do have any concerns about how we use your images, please contact us and we will discuss with you. Legal requirements and testing Some products may require testing to be legally compliant. This is legally required testing such as the UKCA/CE testing and other legal requirements for products. We will not sell makes through any of our opportunities that do not have the relevant testing, this is your responsibility to ensure your products are compliant, if necessary. However, we can support you to carry out these tests and direct you to resources to ensure compliance. Disputes Disputes can occur at any time between members and/or between member/s and the organisation. We aim to resolve any disputes by ensuring member/s feel involved and satisfactory with the outcome. If a resolution cannot be found in the first instance, we have an outlined complaints procedure. The procedure and contact details for handling complaints can be requested. Limitations of the terms and conditions Whilst the terms and conditions aim to be comprehensive, there are scenarios, obligations and agreements that fall outside the scope of these terms and conditions. All alternative agreements between the organisation and our member/s will create a new set of terms that may have a limited timeframe or be ongoing; the timeframe will be outlined in the terms. These new terms will be in writing for both the organisation and the member/s to refer to. Privacy and data policies Our data protection policy can be requested, and our website privacy policy can be found here: Privacy Policy
- Artist: Beth Hughes | Nirvanas Arts Collec
Beth Hughes Beth is a multi-media artist, predominantly working with textiles, using her art to advocate for better treatment and support for those with severe and stigmatised mental illnesses. learn more Most of Beth's art is about her own lived experience of mania, psychosis and motherhood. Beth has experienced poor treatment from mental health services leading to PTSD, this has led to Beth using her creative voice to advocate for radically better treatment for those with severe and stigmatised mental illnesses. Beth's creative expression is conveyed in different ways, she stitches poetry onto large tapestry-like pieces, she enjoys stitching as it feels that is difficult for others to undo. She also makes collages about herself in psychosis that are both beautiful and unnerving, playing with themes of duality. Sometimes she uses cartoons and satire motivated by anger about the mental health services. She draws inspiration from Tracey Emin (who is a multi-media artist using autobiography and personal narratives to underpin her arts practice) and Frida Kahlo (who was a disabled artist, using colourful portraits of herself and others to explore personal and social identity in a postcolonial Mexico). A personal friend of Beth's also inspires her, Rose's work in radical empowerment for individuals who experience psychosis has reframed how she thinks about herself. Beth has previously held an online talk and workshop with Disability Arts Cymru about her art and lived experience, she hopes to continue to share her story through her art to continue her advocacy work around stigmatised mental health. She openly shares her experiences online through her social media which she uses to further her mission to bring awareness about severe mental health issues.
